HIBBING ' Private graveside services for Lewis Stone, 86, of Hibbing, were held on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005 in the Range Hebrew Association Cemetery in Virginia.

He died on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005 in his home. He was born in Stevenson Location on Sept. 10, 1918 to Ben and Florence (Edelstein) Stone. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Medical Corps in Australia, New Guinea, Manila and Japan. He came home on Thanksgiving in 1944. He owned and operated Stone Clothing Store in Hibbing until his retirement in 1967, when he went to work for Mel Sachs at Sachs Brothers Clothing Store.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Hibbing; a son, Dr. Ben (Vicki) Stone of International Falls, Minn.; a grandson, Christopher Stone; a granddaughter, Natalie Stone; a sister, Irene Goldfine of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee, in 1997; by his parents; a brother, Vernon Stone; and a sister, Beatrice Zimmerman Rutman.

Funeral arrangements were with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
